Family companies are structures that are initiated by one or more entrepreneurs from the family, and then the other members of the family (spouse, children or other blood relatives) are involved in. Each family has its own culture and traditions. Daily operations in the company are driven with these culture and traditions.
Most companies around globe are family owned companies. And in general, family companies are the local sales & distribution partners of products and services for most of the multinational as well. For this reason, healthy growth and development of a family business is an essential requirement for the grand corporate companies that partners with.
Most of the multinational companies have various programs and resources to encourage the development of the family companies they partner with. However, since these programs contain templates structured within the general applications and samples. Therefore they may not always fit and show the desired benefit in the micro-development of unique family companies.
For family companies, there is a question on how the decision makers affects the business, and this need to be examined in detail. Relationships and communications of family companies with corporate and multinational companies they partner with, play a key role here.
In today's world, increasing commercial risks and uncertainties at both global and national level, decreasing profitability, weakening turnover that is not meeting expectations and inefficient use of resources; seems to be the biggest obstacle for the sustainability of the companies, regardless of being big or small.
